For more than 12 years, Sylvia LaPratt has been performing Harp for weddings, receptions, orchestras, symphonies, theatrical performances, recitals, and many other events. She completed a university degree in Harp Performance and Music Education at the Zürich Hochschule für Musik und Theatre in her native Switzerland. Her repertoire includes classical, popular, and religious music suited perfectly for weddings and receptions. She has performed harp music in Switzerland, Germany, Cuba, Venezuela, Japan, Korea, Spain, Belgium, France, and the U.S.A. Sylvia has played Harp for weddings both indoors and outdoors and has been featured performing Harp on Swiss television. She has been interviewed on Detroit's WRCJ 90.9 FM.
In addition to being an accomplished Harpist, Sylvia is also an extraordinary singer. She has toured with international choirs to over a dozen countries on four continents. Sylvia was the soprano soloist in Mozart's Great C Minor Mass in Indonesia for the country's national symposium of sacred choral music in 2005.
In 2005/06 Sylvia visited nearly 100 schools throughout the U.S.A. as a guest music teacher sharing her native Swiss music with students of all ages. Since September 2006, Sylvia has been a full-time elementary music teacher in Lincoln Park Public Schools near Detroit, Michigan. Prior to moving to the U.S.A. in 2005 Sylvia taught harp and clarinet students for almost seven years.
Wed in July 2006, Sylvia knows the stress and excitement that can consume a beautiful marriage ceremony. Sylvia will bring a compassionate beauty to any celebration!
